Regular-fit jeans with a tapered leg made from extraordinary Japanese selvage denim that possesses exquisite aging properties. Japan is unquestionably where the finest denim is produced. In fact, we dare to claim that Japan produces the world's most exceptional denim. This redline selvage from Shinya Mills, Kojima, dipped 16 times in pure indigo, woven on vintage shuttle looms, and weighing 13 oz., is a prime example of Japanese denim craftsmanship. In its raw state, this denim appears simplistic, with ring-spun yarns that display a subtle slub, resulting in a uniform fabric with a distinct diagonal twill texture. The medium-dark indigo tone carries a noticeable redcast hue. At 13 oz., the weight falls within the average range. However, the visual and tactile qualities of this denim suggest hidden marvels—this is not your average denim. What cannot be fully appreciated at first glance is the meticulous spinning and weaving techniques employed in creating this fabric. We may not have precise knowledge of the exact process, but the result is a denim that boasts a remarkable balance. The slight crosshatch effect achieved in the interplay of warp and weft yarns is perfectly imperfect. The yarn tension causes puckering upon washing, giving rise to beautiful marble wash effects throughout the fabric. Additionally, the indigo ages gracefully, showcasing vivid highlights where abraded and dark indigo depth where unabraded. These qualities serve as a testament to the craftsmanship of Japanese denim artisans. Simplistic yet intricate, imperfections perfected.
